“Earth Awakening”: Classical Mini-Series landscapes in oil and pastel-a-painting-a-day by Eco Art Girl

By land and sea artist of the carolinas

Being a Charlotte Artist it is unusual that I paint the marsh and coast, but that is how my series began- at the coast. Many artists around me paint the urban landscape, the trolley or from still life, so I find my movement away from these themes refreshing. Water occupies some or most of my paper or canvas because I am drawn to water.  Marshscapes and coastal estuaries pull at my heart -so these images I post fuel my process. More images and information can be found on my website: www.rlistudios.com.

My Studio location: 1517 Camden Road in the Historic South End design district of Charlotte, NC- is by appointment but can be viewed daily 11-3 during CAL hours because I share a small work space that is part of a co-op of community artists within CAL (Charlotte Art League).

RLISTUDIOS dedicated to showcasing ECO ART OF THE CAROLINAS, marshscapes and depictions of coastal estuaries, can be found in North Carolina Community Treasures (a 263 page compilation-resource guide aboutNorth Carolina places, the business people who live there, their products and their passions). This hardbound, coffee table book will guide you to some of the most inviting places across the state, from the warm Atlantic shores to the breathtaking Appalachian Mountains. For your copy click: http://treasuresof.com/BuyBook.aspx

Below is an image that recently sold in the Art With Heart Auction in Charlotte,NC to benefit UFS.

This week I have been working on looking at things in a different light. Having moved from pastel to acrylic I will post an abstract version of the sea and sand- or land and water, which I think I will title “Ocean Stir” (check upcoming posts).
