Art talk: Resting in the process of creating requires the task of exploring and reflecting too. While not painting I have been doing just that. Below are a few images from my travels to Moncks Corner, SC, Cypress Gardens and the “man-made” swamps there. Originally a rice plantation this area was converted into a mirror-like black swamp of cypress, alligators, atamasco lilies and vegetation and opened for viewing in 1932, with 3 1/2 miles of foot paths adjoining it. Take a look.
This was taken last week “Blue-Green Reflections of Sky and Cypress”
Another image below is of a hollowed out bald cypress stump. Paddling around in a flat bottomed skiff we did see a few alligators lookin’ at us!
Lastly, beautiful lily pads on the inky mirror-like blackwater swamp and more cypress embodies the romance of the lowcountry.
Inspiration to follow.
Quote for daily painters: Support the local environmental cause of your choice that works to preserve the natural places you hold dear.
Background ambiance: I visited Moncks Corner to capture these stunning images. The weather was perfect. I was reminded by what I think is one of my ALL time favorite songs by the Bellamy Brothers entitled “Let Your Love Flow”—
Just let your love flow like a mountain stream
And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams
And let your love show
And you’ll know what I mean, it’s the season
Let your love fly like a bird on the wing
And let your love bind you to all living things
And let your love shine
And you’ll know what I mean, that’s the reason..”
