Art talk: I worked on this today as part of the contract I made with myself to join the “daily painters.” It is not finished. I’ll post it again at the next stage.

When I am not doing small paintings for this blog, or parts of abstract paintings, I am working on that which I am drawn to which are paintings about the land, or a “place of interest.” Usually, it is a place I have visited and have become at awe with, such as the Keys or Charleston. On my website I posts the art created from these places.

I believe the process that motivates me was the result of reading The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. (I have only been a serious painter since late 2004. Naturally, I have had instruction leading up to this juncture in my life, and ten years have elapsed since I illustrated a small hard back book that found its way in many diaper bags called It’s Potty Time.) Life had gotten in the way. But today, I use art as a “vehicle for change.” I believe, as artists, through mind, body and spirit we become more open and flexible, we develop tolerance and we tap into new beginnings.

Cameron’s book has caused me to take charge and act upon my “intuition” at will, and work diligently to tame my artist’s soul- if that can be done? So, I have included a tid bit of info on it below:

“The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity” by Julia Cameron

I purchased the Tenth Anniversary Edition and this is a workbook to unblock to. With the opening line we are reminded that as artists we are “visionaries,” routinely and with every step having the inspiration to create our market.

Cameron offers insight into the healthy relationship between artists and the Great Creator, aka “good orderly flow,” “God,” Goddess,’ “Universe” or higher vibration that guides us. This book includes tips from her journey, 10 basic principles to numerous quotes from other artists on “flow.” Critical components propel the reader from chapter to chapter: the weekly exercises you must do for the book to be effective, the necessary contract you write with yourself, the morning “brain dump” 3 pages you must write and the artist’s date you set with yourself. Not a shallow book to merely think about. Your results are based solely on you doing these things and abandoning your censor telling you it is not possible. This book was a springboard for me to exit corporate marketing (in an industry I lacked real interest in on a personal level) and by doing so live for myself, to create a new reality.
